The prestigious Swiss manufacture of Le Brassus, Audemars Piguet, unveils in this fall 2021, a Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Frosted Gold Automatic Chronograph (41 mm) replica watch in a limited series of only 200 pieces in white gold powered by the latest generation of movements from the manufacture, Caliber 4401, introduced this year in the Royal Oak collection.
Watch case
More specifically, this Royal Oak chrono is therefore equipped with a 41 mm case (water resistant to 50 meters) in white gold with Frosted gold finishes and a Grande Tapisserie dial characteristic of the collection, available in a new shade of gray.
As previously indicated, the white gold case and bracelet feature this famous finish called Frosted Gold with polished chamfers and crown. While the textured surfaces give the room an avant-garde aesthetic, they are actually created by an ancient gold hammering technique, also known as "Florentine" and produced in collaboration with Carolina Bucci.
Specially adapted to decorate AP watches, Frosted Gold involves hammering gold in order to create tiny notches on the surface of the material using a tool topped with a diamond point. This results in an elegant sparkle effect similar to that of gemstones or diamond dust.
Watch movement
At the heart of this novelty is the latest generation of the Manufacture’s chronograph movement, the automatic Caliber 4401. This 381-component (4Hz) movement is fitted with a column wheel and a flyback function. Unlike a traditional chronograph, the flyback function allows the wearer to stop, reset and restart the chronograph in a single action.
The column wheel works in conjunction with a vertical clutch. When the chronograph isengaged or stopped, the hands start moving immediately, without dead time or jumpingimpromptu. What's more, the pressure on the pushers is much softer.
A patented reset mechanism also ensures that each hand within the counters instantly returns to the vertical starting position.
Watch case-back
This chrono benefits from a new sapphire crystal case-back which allows you to admire the column wheel of the integrated chronograph and the famous "dance" of its hammers. When the reset pusher is actuated, the hammers, directed by a lever, strike the central cam in order to guide the wheels and the chronograph hands to zero.
The wearer will enjoy a bird's-eye view of the 22-carat rose gold oscillating weight and movement finishes, such as Côtes de Genève, perlage, circular satin-brushing and chamfer polishing. The comfortable power reserve is 70 hours.
Watch color
Automatic Chronograph. It is decorated with a "Large Tapestry" motif and equipped with index luminescent Royal Oak appliques and hands in white gold. The rhodium-plated hours and minutes counters have been repositioned to improve readability, while the date window has moved closer to the flange.
